Will Improve Identification and Treatment of Child Sexual Abuse by

  • Training more New York State medical professionals in child sexual abuse evaluation.

  • Supporting quality improvement for the Mentors and Providers in the CHAMP Network through educational peer case review.

  • Developing peer-reviewed online coursework related to the identification, testing, treatment, and management of suspected child sexual abuse cases.

Will Improve Child Safety by

  • Developing coursework on www.CHAMPprogram.com for primary care pediatric providers and Emergency Department physicians related to the better recognition and reporting of child abuse.

  • Providing free, online coursework for non-medical members of multi-disciplinary teams (MDTs) to increase their understanding of the medical issues related to abuse and how to better respond to suspected abuse.

  • Bringing child abuse updates to every corner of the state by offering web-based and regional conferences.

  • Expanding the medical resource www.ChildAbuseMD.com that currently serves over 30,000 visitors a month.

Will Increase the Number of Child Abuse Medical Experts by

  • Developing and supporting more CHAMP Centers of Excellence.

  • Creating coursework on www.CHAMPprogram.com for pediatricians preparing for the Child Abuse Pediatrics certification examination.
