Requirements for Providers to Remain in the CHAMP Network

Beginning September 2008, CHAMP-trained Providers will have to meet both practice and continuing education requirements to remain in the CHAMP Network. CHAMP will post a roster of those Providers who have met the requirements on the CHAMP website.

The requirements are:

  1. Case Review . Providers must submit three child sexual abuse cases each year for review in accordance with the peer review process.

  2. Continuing Education. Providers must earn category 1 AMA PRA CME credits (or the equivalent) on the topic of child abuse. The requirement is 6 credits every 2 years.

    1. CHAMP will offer educational opportunities that grant category 1 AMA PRA CME credits. Providers can earn the requisite number of credits through CHAMP. This includes 1 CME for participating in a Quarterly Review. In addition, there will be CME granting coursework on the CHAMP website. However, Providers are not limited to CHAMP offerings.

    2. In addition, there is an alternative to attending a CME offering. Providers can earn credit for speaking on the topic of child sexual abuse. One presentation hour is the equivalent of 1 CME.

  3. Quarterly Review. Providers are required to participate in at least one Quarterly Review per year. These hour-long reviews are held as a teleconference. The cases are made available in the Member area of the CHAMP website.

  4. Additional Requirements. Providers who see fewer than 12 child sexual abuse cases a year are required to attend 3 of the 4 Quarterly Reviews. If the Provider has not attended 3 Quarterly Reviews, the Provider must spend a day with a CHAMP Mentor in order to receive additional training and support.
