If you are a resident doing a child abuse rotation with a CHAMP Mentor and have the option of participating in the CHAMP Residency Training Program, go to https://www.champprogram.com/register.asp
and open a CHAMP coursework account. Creating an account will give you access to the Evaluating Child Sexual Abuse pretest and post-test. It will also give you access to all CHAMP online courses. There is no charge for these tests or courses.
After you have created your account, register to take the Evaluating Child Sexual Abuse pretest. Use the password your CHAMP Mentor/Attending provides to access the pretest. Email Linda Markell, CHAMP Manager, MarkellL@upstate.edu or call her (315-464-2047) Monday, Wednesday or Thursday between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM if you are having problems accessing the pretest.
After you have completed the pretest, email Linda Markell, CHAMP Manager, MarkellL@upstate.edu . She will send you the CHAMP Residency Training Program forms that you need. She will also send you the password to take the Evaluating Child Sexual Abuse post-test. You must complete and return the CHAMP Residency Training Program Registration in order for your rotation to be recognized as preparation to become a CHAMP Provider.
After you are registered in the CHAMP Residency Training Program, your Mentor/Attending will invite you to attend CHAMP Quarterly Reviews and webcasts.
Complete the self-study course Evaluating Child Sexual Abuse. You can get a copy of the workbook and video (or DVD) from your CHAMP Mentor/Attending.
When you are ready to take the post-test, go to
https://www.champprogram.com/courses.asp and register to take the Evaluating Child Sexual Abuse post-test. Use the post-test password that Linda sent you. You must pass the post-test with a minimum score of 80%. You may retake the test if you do not achieve a passing score the first time.
After you have passed the post-test, Linda will send you a copy of your test so that you can review it with your CHAMP Mentor/Attending.
After you have successfully completed your rotation, which must have a minimum of 15 hours of sexual abuse cases, send your rotation evaluation form to Linda. Your CHAMP Mentor/Attending must also complete and return an evaluation of your rotation.
When Linda receives the necessary paperwork, she will send you a CHAMP Residency Training Program Certificate of Completion.
After you are licensed to practice in the state of New York and are doing child sexual abuse evaluations, you can apply to be a CHAMP Provider. This application will require that you send three child sexual abuse cases to be reviewed by CHAMP experts.
