Trafficking Case 4

back to case 5forward to case 5

History

You are called to evaluate a 16 year-old patient who was found by law enforcement exchanging sex for money after being advertised on social media by her "boyfriend." The patient also discloses involvement in sex trafficking. She states she wants to leave the life.

Concern

The patient's case is a confirmed case of sex trafficking because law enforcement witnessed her exchanging sex for money and she, herself, disclosed being involved with sex trafficking. Leaving the life of a sex-trafficked minor is very difficult.

Which option is the best way to help her?

A. Make a report to the Child Abuse Hotline in order to involve CPS and call a local resource center for a possible residential placement.

B. Make a report to the Child Abuse Hotline and notify law enforcement.

C. Call a local resource center for possible residential placement, make a report to the Child Abuse Hotline and notify law enforcement.

D. Make a report to the Child Abuse Hotline, and CPS will take care of the rest.
